A machine for bending Hall effect switches bends and cuts the leads of a Hall effect sensor so that it can then be soldered onto an electronic circuit. MGA Technologies developed a lead cutting and forming machine for components and sensors, designed to prepare these parts before assembly.
Hall Effect Switches
Hall effect switches are components that detect the presence of magnetic fields. By definition, when a conductive element is placed in an electromagnetic field, an electromagnetic force proportional to the field and the current appears: this is the Hall effect.
These switches have many applications and are mainly used in the automotive, precision mechanics and aeronautics sectors. They serve as angular position and speed sensors, to determine the direction of rotation of an element, for battery management or for engine control.
The Hall switch sends a signal when it detects this magnetic field. The voltage is then amplified inside the sensor and transmitted to an electronic circuit for analysis. Learn more about how they work on our Hall effect sensor page.
Characteristics of a Hall effect switch:
- Provides a reliable, compact and fast technique for detecting position,
- Is insensitive to its environment and protected against reverse polarity,
- Usually consists of a small plastic package and 3 to 8 pins (leads),
- Can be omnipolar, unipolar or bipolar.
Several brands dominate the Hall effect switch market, including Texas Instruments, Infineon, Allegro and Honeywell.
Machine for Bending Hall Effect Switches
For industrial applications, Hall effect switches are delivered on tapes of several dozen or even hundreds of components. Dedicated equipment, such as the MGA Technologies machine, cuts and bends them in series. The sensors are then ready to be soldered onto electronic circuits.
There are two types of bending machines: manual or automatic. The manual machine is often used for testing or for training in institutes and schools, while the automatic machine is preferred for larger volumes and higher bending quality requirements.
Technical Characteristics of the Machine
The technical characteristics and advantages of the MGA Technologies bending machine:
- Rate of 900 components per hour,
- Power supply from 110 V to 230 V,
- Noise level below 70 dB,
- Bending accuracy < 2°,
- Cutting accuracy ±0.1 mm,
- Modular, scalable and interchangeable tools,
- Magnetic or non-magnetic components with 3 to 5 pins,
- Multilingual interface for use by all your employees.
