Pharma Kit Preparation Line

This custom automatic pharma kit preparation line enables the preparation of kits for use with an instrument for the detection of pathogens.

Installed in a building specifically designed to have the equipment, the line is organized around a central pallet transfer that receives the various kit components.

Each pallet is equipped with an RFID tag that manages the state of the pallet by recording if each step was successful, which ensure quality monitoring for each individual kit. Upstream, the case that serves as a container for the entire kit is prepared by an automatic former that unstacks and then unfolds the two possible cases, a large format or a small format that are placed on the staged pallets of the transfer after being tagged, each label being read by a vision to check the rank of the datamatrix code printed online.

Three height-adjustable ergonomic workstations allow operators to load lateral conveyors with thermoformed supports on which strips are arranged. These supports join a cleated conveyor which loads a stacker which forms stacks of supports. These batteries are taken by a technician that loads the cases with one or two batteries depending on the size of the case. At the next transfer station, a cardboard easel is stripped, formed and inserted into the case next to the support. Then, two belts are used to load bottles into two stars to present them to two high-speed scara robots that place the bottles in the shelf of the case.

More than a hundred configurations are possible combining different sizes and different types of bottles. At the three following positions, there is a visual control of the previous steps, a user manual for the kit added. The next station consists of an air dispenser that unstacks bags containing small plastic tools for the use of the kit, a separator and an orientation device that detects the shape of the bag visually, and then a label is placed on the bag and read again to print quality.

One or two bags are inserted in the case depending on size. Then, the cases are removed from the transfer pallet. Any non-compliant bags are made available to the line driver for analysis. The compliant cases are closed by an automatic closing machine, then conveyed to be made available to a poly-articulated 6-axis robot that palletises them by inserting a non-slip separator every two stages of the pallet. Two pallets are stacked in parallel to allow the line to not stop when inserting a new pallet.

The entire line is controlled by a central controller that communicates the data and the states of the various stations both locally on each station and centrally with three large screens that are mounted in a central position at 120 degrees to be visible everywhere in the workshop.
