Vaccine Manufacturing Equipment

Vaccine manufacturing and quality control - GMP compliant manufacturing

Vaccine production processes are long and complex. On average, they take between six and twenty-two months. In addition, the reproducibility of manufacturing processes is often difficult to control due to high production variability. Each stage of production must also be subject to quality and safety controls. The deployment of vaccine manufacturing equipment is necessary to meet these production challenges.

MGA, Technologies, manufacturer of custom-made equipment for vaccine production

The manufacturing processes for vaccines differ from those for drugs, in particular because of the active substances they contain. The germ used may be live and attenuated (such as mumps, tuberculosis or measles), or an inactive germ fraction (such as an inactivated vaccine) or a toxin. Vaccines can also be made from an animal cell or yeast to obtain the vaccine antigen.

In contrast, vaccines follow the same production steps: generation of the germ bank, culture and amplification, harvesting, purification and concentration, inactivation of the substance produced and manufacture of the antigenic valences. Each step has several sub-steps, which makes the vaccine manufacturing process long and complex.

Once the product has passed all validation steps, large-scale vaccine production is initiated. It is necessary to integrate specific dedicated equipment. MGA Technologies designs and manufactures innovative and customised production equipment for the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.

Automatic dehulling and harvesting line for the production of flu vaccines

We provide the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries with special machines for the large-scale production of vaccines. This is the case with the automatic shucking and harvesting line. This production unit is used for the manufacture of flu vaccines. It allows for the collection of the primary liquid used for the production of flu vaccines. The machine removes the shells from the virus-inoculated embryonated eggs in order to collect the allantoic liquid. In the production line, trays of de-shelled eggs are transported by a conveyor belt to a harvesting carousel. The eggs are then placed in a collection box. The box is turned upside down to allow the allantoic liquid to flow into a tank. The tank transports the allantoic liquid to a purification process downstream of the line. The collection box is then turned over and the egg tray is directed to an incinerator.

All these processes performed by the vaccine manufacturing equipment take place in a confined environment, free from any contamination.
