Automated AMR for Semiconductor Fabs

Automated AMR for Semiconductor Fabs

The Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) is a robotic solution that moves autonomously in a work environment, without the need for human intervention.

It has the advantage of being more agile than older robotic solutions. It is easy to deploy, and does not require modification of existing infrastructure. Discover MGA Technologies’ automated AMR for the semiconductor fab.

Why Invest in AMR for Semicon Fabs?

Deploying automated AMR for semiconductor fabs offers a number of advantages:

  • Smoother machine loading and unloading, thanks to the reliability of the robotic system and its high work rate;
  • Optimized workstation ergonomics: the integration of AMR for semicon fabs enhances operational efficiency in production units and boosts productivity;
  • Optimization of semiconductor quality: the integrity of semiconductors is preserved during the manufacturing process. The risk of errors is reduced;
  • Diversification of means of transport: AMR for fab semiconductors can be deployed in areas inaccessible to OHT solutions. In existing fabs, the autonomous mobile robot also makes it easier to set up partial AMHS.

What are the applications of Automated AMR for Semiconductor Fabs?

The automated AMR for semiconductor fabs designed and built by MGA Technologies has several applications, such as;

Case 1: Mobile Manipulator (Comobot™)

Above all, it is a robotic solution for transporting pods or foups to areas that can’t be served by OHTs. Thanks to the Mobile Manipulator or Comobot™, the scope of intervention of automated transport vehicles (AMHS) is extended. The Comobot integrates seamlessly into FAB communication standards (SECS/GEM/E84).

Case 2: The Comobot™ interface with HBIN

HBIN is the solution for modernizing the loading/unloading station (LoadPort) of Mobile Manipulators. It enables the automation of equipment inaccessible to OHTs, while offering the possibility of feeding it manually.

The HBIN/HBOUT station is an intelligent AMHS load port, or, to be more precise, an intelligent, connected shelf. It can be loaded and unloaded manually by an operator or automatically by a transport vehicle. The HBIN/HBOUT station is used as an interface between operators and the automated transport solution (AMHS).

It can also be used as a temporary storage buffer to smooth production flows. In this case, it is installed next to the equipment. The station maintains process traceability, whatever its application.

HBIN/HBOUT integrates seamlessly with FAB communication standards (SECS/GEM/E84).
