Cutting Device for Pharmaceutical Hoses
The cutting aid for pharmaceutical hoses is a machine that enables the safe and sterile disconnection of thermoplastic tubes used in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries and also in the medical sector.
To disconnect two pieces of process equipment, the machine seals and indicates the area where to cut the C-Flex® thermoplastic hose that connects them. It is fitted with a jaw to immobilise the thermoplastic hose. Once the jaw is closed, it is locked by an electromagnet system. After this stage, the operator can trigger the disconnection process. The machine is equipped with a ceramic heating device that comes into contact with the hose. This heats up until the melting point of the C-Flex® tube is reached.
The machine then secures the fusion of the tube by maintaining the temperature for a set time, eliminating any risk of microbiological contamination on either side of the jaw. The tube disconnection device is equipped with a vane pump that blows air over the jaws until the temperature is reduced to a level that can be tolerated by the operator. The tube is then released and the operator simply uses a pair of scissors to cut it manually.
